Classic Registration

Postby Elmo » Sun Jun 01, 2008 2:54 pm

Does anyone know if this still exists?

It used to be a LOT cheaper to rego cars over 40? years old. Does anyone know if this is still the case? Ive looked on the LTSA site, but as everyone knows its pretty poor, so didnt find anything.

Any help appreciated

Do all vehicles have to be licensed continuously?

All motor vehicles must be continuously licensed while using the road, except for the following:

* vehicles that are not required by law to be registered or licensed
* vehicles that are more than 40 years old
* agricultural machinery, tractors and mobile machines
* exempt class EA and EB vehicles
* trailers and trailer-type caravans having a gross laden weight not exceeding 3500 kilograms
* all-terrain vehicles (ATVs).

Cant seem to see prices on there anywhere. They still do classic rego, think it is chaged automatically when your vehicle reaches 40 years. And I think it takes 2 years for rego to die on them?

How long before you qualify?

Oh, yes I am, Ive been taking special note.

Just so you know.

The cost of fuel in Nz equates to 7.80 a gallon. They are paying approx 5 USD a gallon at the mo.

The gas at the pumps here costs approx 8 a gallon, but that was bought at last years fuel price. And includes the cost to bring it in etc

The gas at the Pole costs around 25 a gallon (including freight)

So fueling up an F350 here, costs approx 200USD a pop.
