map 4agze in ae85 getting no spark!

Postby ae86_gtz » Sat Jun 07, 2008 8:35 pm

hey. been on here for a while now never posted comments before though. i got a ae85 with a ae101 4agze. i get no spark at the plugs. everything else seems to work fine..
have searchd this quite abit with no answers.

coils get 2 wires each and 1 on each is a 12v ignition and the other is IGD and IGT...
can anyone tell me what sort of volts im supose to get out of the IGD and IGT wires at the coils..?? they both come from the igniter... i get volts coming out of them but not to sure if its the right amount and if its supose to be pulsing..
also can the ecu disable spark if some sensors are not connected... like the O2 and exhaust temperture sensor.. i dont have these yet and thinkin maybe it wont start unless they are connected.

any help is appreciated
thanks

have managed to sort this problem out new coils did the job. but now gettin a backfire into my intake manifold when cranking it to start it. it blows of my pipe and a fire inside the intake manifold for 2 or 3 seconds..
any1 know what causes that? timing is all correct and firing order is correct..
thanks

I think I used to see your car in the Hutt most thursday nights... My mate had the same prob as you, with his coil packs. Ended up needing to replace them twice before it fully fixed the prob. Good luck dude

You sure you've put the CAS in correctly?

it cant be my car. havent been out that way in over a year and my car hasnt been on the road for the last 4 yrs. only started workin on it end of last year. i just sorted out the backfiring problem and the person i bought the engine off labeled all the plugs on the loom and he got the coil plugs the wrong way.. got a new problem now... i guess its wat u get from a pulled apart engine that sat there for 2 yrs problem after problem...

car starts and fires right but then just revs up and i turn it off otherwise it will rev itself to bits... its as if some1 has the throttle wide open and u start it...

the 4agze ECU has a black wire thats called the idle-up diode..? any1 know where this goes? or a diagram how its connect or if its even needed to make the engine run good..
or is it the ISCV valve? i get it as a fault and i know that its for idling but how do i test it to see if its stuffed..

Double check the thottle cable has some slack in it at idle, it could just be the throttle butter fly is open, otherwise maybe a massive vacuum leak somewhere??

i dont have the throttle cable on it... but yea i was thinking of leaks as im pretty sure i got 1 or 2 but i thought i would just get a higher idle not reving up to like 5000rpm...

the ISCV valve is it suppose to click 2 times when ignition comes on... it clicks 2 times just like a relay when i turn the ignition on.. i know its a magnet and closes a small hole but im sure my old ZE didnt do that..

thanks for all the help every1
