black top vs silver top

hi a friend has blown up her black top levin. will a silver top work with black top loom,ecu etc

a silvertop will run better on a blacktop loom and ecu but will require custom wiring to make work I believe, I think AceSniper on here or someone may have done it, but can I ask why go to a silvertop?? whats wrong with replacing it with another blacktop would be a lot less hassle

I don't believe there is need for custom wiring in this case, you could even use BT throttle body so not to muck around with MAP sensor line (well it is not that difficult anyway).

yeah cost of blk vs silver is main issue. sounds like a go though. have played around with red vs blue and had good success. but don`t know much about 20valves cheers

The inlet manifold faces are different, but I dont know if they are different enough to cause a problem or not.

will all plug up, the map just grab a vac feed off the end.... were the a/c idle up, charcoal and idle up feed into... works fine.

when you say it blew up it threw a rod?

If the head is ok, you could buy a Silvertop and use the blacktop head from the old engine.
That way you would get the 'stronger' silvertop rods also, with the benefits of the blacktop head.

Would mean no wiring problems also.
