What type of tyres do you have?

I'm looking to replace 4 tyres.

I'd be interested in the opinions and experiences of others - in particular I'm tossing up Dunlop Direzza vs. Bridgestone MY-01.

My Experiences:
* Dunlop Direzza - Great tyre, good grip, bit of road noise. Good value for money.
* Bridgestone Potenza G3 - Excellent tyre, excellent grip, lots of road noise. Not worth the extra $50 per tyre over a direzza.
* Hankook Ventus - Poor tyre, poor grip, loads of wall movement. Stayed on the car for 2 days before I traded them. Aweful, would never by them again.
* Yokohama Advans - Good tyre, good grip, little road noise. A weee bit of wall movement.

I've had MY-01's & Direzza's on my fxgt & the Direzza is a far better tire in my experience, it just grips a lot better especially in the wet when driving spirtedly, the MY-01's just seem to sledge & slide across the road when changing direction whereas the Direzza's just grip, or if you are going a bit quick let you know before they let go.

The Direzza changed the whole feel of the car for me, & the slight increase in road noise is worth it

i've got BFGoodrich g-force sports on my car at the moment, almost scary levels of grip in the dry but have had the front skating a bit in the wet when really pushed, mostly on close to full lock

couldnt really comment on road noise cos my cars got no sound deadening

im pretty happy with them at the price i paid.

Got them on my AE92 FXGT, AE101 Levin 4AGTE and had then on my BZ-G Trueno and AW11 MR2 4AGZE before selling them.

I'll continue to buy them as long as they're available.

They are the best tyre I've ever had on a car.

I had some Dunlop Sport MAXX on the Diamante.

I have Direzza and it seems to be fairly good, good grip in the wet too.

I Went from G3's to some falken ST-115 tyres on my evo and they were great. Great grip in wet and dry and no problems with cornering. Well priced too.

Both the FK-451 and the ST-115 are great tyres. Id go for the ST-115 just because they are nicer on a road car (quieter and last longer but still grip real well), say if its your daily driver. If it isnt your daily the FK-415's would be my pick.

In saying all that im waiting for the next generation of asymmetrical tyres to come out.. If they havnt come out yet. Wonder what the new goodyear F1 is like.

same with Eagle F1s, but best investment you can make, although with these being replaced i'm not sure what i'll go for next time. But if they have a replacement tyre, it will be those as I tend to stick with a good thing when I find one.

tyres are cheap compared to petrol anyway, you wouldn't run 91 and give ya car a thrash, just the same as you don't buy s**t tyres and give ya car a thrash

Dunlop sport maxx in front, pretty good.
Nankang NS2's at rear, not that great but ok.

RE070's - pretty good too but GLHF on finding those in New zeeeeeland.

Agree, quite a bit better than the G3's i was previously running. Be interesting to see what the adrenaline and the new F1's are like.

Had Yokohama Advan E5 or something on my Skyline, mean but not so good in the wet..

Got Nexens on the Forester now, which for a cheap tire, are excellent

Yeah, I've got these, they're sweet. Not 100% sure about them in the wet, but an aw11 probably isn't the best test of that, haha.

In terms of tyres to definitely avoid, anything by michelin Dad's mondeo (why!?) had them for some reason, they cost $600 each and got absolutely destroyed by our crappy roads.

I was recommended them by Tonys Tyre Service after my previous ones (and I can't remember for the life of me what they were) virtually disintegrated after a year of solid-if-routine driving. These are a harder compound.

I've found them pretty damn good, they seem to be fairly hardwearing but also grippy even in the wet.

According to http://www.goodyear.co.nz/tyres.asp?id=1 they're OEM shipped with a number of vehicles especially European (BMW notably) as well as a number of Fords out of Australia.

I've absolutely no idea how they stack up against what you guys are referring to but they work well on my Caldina (I don't have a huge budget).

HanKook Ventus RS-2 on all four corners. Running 215/40 on front, 235/40 on rears on a mr2 gts.

People seem to say that ventus series suck but depends on the model. those hr series are utter rubbish.

the Rs-2's have STIFF AS HELL side walls, excellant aqua planting, and it copes with my driving. Ive tried Goodyear GSD3's, DUnlop Sport MAXX, DZ101 and then these.

These are by far the best ones ive tried yet. SO MUCH TRACTION

Down side is, it becomes all sloppy and gives without warning when it heats up. (pfft what other road tyres don't). And they arn't exactly cheap at $250~ each and it wears down pretty rapid due to the soft compound. You can leave fingernail marks in the tyre

RE001 Adrenalines on the ITR's 15's... they make the Direzzas's on the 16's seem silly. Heaps more lateral grip, they hook up off the mark better, are incredible in the wet, noisier however, and response feels better. I suspect the sidewalls are stiffer cos the ride on 195/55/15 Adrenaline's is harsher than that of the 205/45/16 Direzza's!
