C160 12C 6 speed into NZ AE82 GT - What's needed??

Postby Allister S » Sun Jun 22, 2008 12:37 pm

Hi Guys,

If I'm trying to fit a AE111 BZR C160 12C into a NZ new AE82 GT what parts will need swapping?

1. Which driveshafts will work or can I mix the driveshaft CV's to make it work?

2. I've heard the "ears" on the 6 speed might foul something on the standard Bluetop 16V 4AGE - Bypass or something?

3. Will the 6speed pressure plate fit the AE82 flywheel? What mix of parts will work here?

4. Can all the AE82 gearbox mounts be fitted to the C160?

5. Can the mechanical AE82 speedo drive go into the C160?

Any help welcomed!!! Thanks.

1 I use the ae82 drive shalfts, need to put the ae82 cups into the gearbox.
2 Not to sure wat you mean about ears
3 I run a black top flywheel, starter motor might not engage on an ae82 flywheel, might need to do a search on the the sizes.
4 The two lower mounts will work, the top mount i had to modifiy an ae82 one to fit.
5 mechanical drive will work

The gear lever cables need to be changed, can run standard gear lever but need to bend a tab so you can select reverse,I have the parts to do this conversion which i could sell if you get stuck,Ph 0272905965

Thanks heaps for that. I'll get the shift cables and flywheel with the box.

Or, how much are you after for the shift cables and flywheel?

Also if I get the Blacktop flywheel I take it I will need the Black top clutch and pressureplate? Will I also need the Blacktop starter?

Any idea how I can really check if this IS the LSD box?? The chassis code says C160 12C - is that the only real tell??

Cheers, Al :D

Take the speedo sender out and if you turn the drive shalfs there should be about five little cogs on the diff when looking through the speedo hole.Do a search on this form under 6sp lsd in tech section ,link to billzilla as it is in there as i did the same.

Thanks a lot. I'd done the searching but as usual hadn't found the right post. Found your and the link. Looks like I should certainly have the right box.

Haven't brought a starter or blacktop flywheel but I'll see if the AE82 stuff fits in there... If not I can always get the Blacktop bits.

Got the shift cables with the box. So hopefully my AE82 lever should work with this.

Thanks heaps for the advice. Cheers, Al

Just fitted a C56 5 speed to my AE82, you will need the water bypass pipe from a AE92 otherwise the pipe will foul the ear on the box at the rear, they look similar but have a slight angular difference.
