trackday

Postby escortman » Sun Jun 29, 2008 10:21 pm

went to my 1st trackday today at puke, mates boss hired the place out, so went dwn 1 mate with his rb30det laurel and another in his r32gtst, was awesome fun going around as passenger drifting the corners etc
was about 2 o clock or so when we were told no more drifting as they had had 19 complaints from the public and that the council were videoing drifting

aparntly this weekend was the last time drifting would be allowed until xmas or something when they build a 20ft wall around the track or something

now today we were the only drifters the other 20ish cars were all 4wd and didnt drift

so its illegal to drift on the street and now u cant do it at the track either hmm how does that work, ok i understand the noise may be loud but its a race track, has any body else experianced this

bitch over

His user name is actually slammed_Integral and if you bothered to look at the link on his sig, he owns two Starlets.
Each person is entitled to their own opinion, but it takes a grown up to know where and when to express it. By all means, turn a thread into a b*tch fest, it deviates from what it was about to start with and when it gets locked, go back to writing idiot comments on youtube clips.

In short, only write stuff that's constructive!

PS all Honda drivers are gay

What we need to understand is people have all sorts of rights. So, the grumpy old man or young car hating hippy down the road from the track can cause a stink and their rights have to be looked at. Car enthusiasts have the right to go round a track fast, or in this case sideways. So it's a matter of tayloring it to meet with everyones needs. Not that council does a very good job of it!

People buy houses next to, oh I don't know, a Race Track, Drag strip, Speedway, Airport or Air Force Base and then complain about the noise. So we get the problems like at Puke, Western Springs etc...

We gets calls all the time here at Whenuapai, asking why we're running our engines. We have strict rules on when we can run our planes and for how long. We had a guy write into the local paper and ask what we were doing, drying out the runway with our props .

It's going to happen anywhere.

drifting is fully sick if you don't like it then good for you,

its really stupid of you to call those that like it a gay boy as you are really just showing your own level of interest in motorsport is very limited, therefore diminishing the value of your comments in the first place.

racetracks have to adhear to the motorsport regs of 95 dB at 30 metres right angle to the track, this is ENGINE noise as that used to be the loudest thing. however, the resource consent for race tracks, they can only be at say 80db or 70db at their boundary, and that is where drifting has its issue. Wait till the noise has to be under 95dB... that'll be fun to police

if the track has a resource consent they have to comply with it no matter what, its plain and simple.
if drifting is too loud, well tough bikkies really - if they were quieter, then it would be fine in relation to the noise
consents are put in place for reasons, there's no getting around them easily

on a second note, you cant safely mix drifting and non-drifting into the same race/track session etc. its not allowed under track hireage and/or motorsport conditions.

thirdly, the track may not have been hired as a 'drift' event.
im not sure on this but it may have different conditions
also it probably damages the track more than 'conventional' racing, and it definitely drags crap onto the track which is another reason why drag and grip racing dont mix

each to their own, some people like drifting, some dont, some people like F1/superbikes/V8's/karting/openwheelers/toyota racing/ford racing series/porche etc etc, its all motorsport and just cause someone doesnt like the same particular code/class as you they they dont hate motorsport
get with it and stop bitching people!

haha quite a few posts during the day u guys need to work harder :P haha

i think somebody council/government needs to look at this, i mean all the media, cops etc etc saying go to the track but then get told cant do it there, they take all this money from fines etc cant they put it to use and pay some diploma guy to do some research ie talk to the sensible "boyracers" who keep silly stuff to the track and get their opinions and suggestions?

motorsport on the track has got bugger all to do with opinions

if you are running a track and your consent says XdB at Y position, then thats what youve got to comply with

if the MSNZ rule says no doing this, then you cant do it

simple!
