SW20 tyre sizes *SORTED*

Postby GDII » Thu Jul 03, 2008 6:44 pm

What size tires should I have on the 15" wheels on my SW20?
I have 6" wide on the front and 7" on the back.

Image

The car had a set of GT radial 205 50 15s on the back and looked a little small for the car.
They had flat spots on them so I replaced them with 205 50 15 Dunlop Direzzas and they look even smaller and stretched.
Not too happy about the looks. Should have done some research first.

I have 195 55 15 on the front and they look fine.

you should use 215/50 on the back, they will be the same sidewall height as your 195/55 so will look right.

for your reference:

If you change the word stock to front, and new to rear, the application can be used to compare front and rear tire circumference, and as you can see they are near enough to identical.

out of interest, since your running factory wheels, does it not say inside the drivers door what size you should use?

No, Because this is a 1990 SW20 with later model wheels. It had 14" from factory.

Well in that case I will buy some 225/50/15 for the back and swap the back tires to the front wheels.

Is this photo showing that setup?

Nah back then it had 195/55/15 on the front. But was still 225/50/15 on the rear.

At least your wing mirrors aren't pink

And i don't have the lights in the front bumper. Hope I can pick up some cheap. Would finish off the front nicely with the bigger front lip.
