No but seriously, I have run a red light before...intersection of Ruahine and Tremaine ave, turning right on to Ruahine. Was about half past 10 at night, and I was sitting on a red arrow for 2 minutes (I actually timed it!). I think there must have been an issue with the phasing, as its never happened there before.

The sensors that tell the lights if a car are waiting are induction loops.

It wont pick up rust and bog, it needs some steel!

Hate that. Happens often at Princess and Church St too. So once, I ran a red light while doing a burnout, racing anther car, and I had a loud exhaust, a plethora of uncertified modifications, no WOF or rego, AND to top it off I wasn't wearing a seatbelt. It was so f**king extreme.

That happens because there is people gunning it straight ahead when the light is about to turn red.

I bet you were drunk, high on P and leaving the scene of a vicious rape/murder/assault on an elderly person too.

If I was braking hard enough for things to start flying around the car I would be far more concerned about the person behind me running up my arse. They more often than not have already planted boot in preparation for slipping through the orange.

I'm just saying that if your shopping is hitting the back of your seat, the safer thing to do was probably just to cruise through. It's a good measure of when is too late. I do not run reds.

Auckland is pretty bad for accelerating rather than braking for orange lights. I'm guilty of that from time to time. Lets be honest here, you dont do it coz something might move in your car, you do it because you cant be arsed waiting, thats what I told the cop. I thought....Hmmmm perhaps honesty is the way to his heart.

Anyway, its bad but dont say you've never done it (unless you live in a small town with no lights and never leave, Taupo not included, they have one set of lights and I'm sure Saturday night hi-jinx invloves "running the light")

Honesty is not the way to his heart, sexual favours FTW!

Red light runners piss me off the most out of all driving offences. I've been almost hit too many times to list by these pricks. I never hesitate to use the horn and let them know I'm $&#$% off that there big piece of sh*t Ponsnoby 4wd tracter almost hit me. Yes most offenders I find tend to be middle aged business men that blatently run them. Hope they install more red light cameras, the best thing they could do!

being from the sticks (whangarei) i find it quite a cultural experience driving in auckland, the amount of people running oranges and reds down there would leave no one waiting at the reds in whangarei
When in doubt, down and out.

When I have a green light and first in line, Ill usually wait a few seconds or wait until the red lanes have stopped.... But this is Auckland styles

I usually see a red light runner every morning on Vestry Drive/Gt Sth Rd.

...Yeah but it shouldn't be like that

I heard somewhere that is aussie you get hit with a $1150 fine for running a red so you would be pretty stupid to take your chances. $150 here is just really a slap on the hand for the type of offence.

I fu.king hate people that run reds. I see it all the time when going home silly hours in the morning. Even seen a truck and trailer run a red, even tho my light had been green enough for me to pass thru.
I wish i had the power to pull them over and beat the sh.t out of them. Where is a cop when you need one?

Hahaha, walking back along past grafton bridge, see this big f**ken flash of light, look up and another flash. Two c**t's just got done through the red 8)

Had a big white spot in my eyes for about 20 mins from it, but damn it was worth it. There needs to be more cameras, that would help the problem a bit.

The thing that $&#$% me off the most is that it's "caught on" - people now do it because they see so many other people doing it that they think it's ok, and even worse the RIGHT thing to do (as evidenced by those hit from behind when stopping for an orange)
