Well after over 20 hours of fun, I arrived in Dallas, Texas in the good U S of A. Im' staying in a county called Rockwall, which was about and hour drive from the Airport.
It's VERY hot here, 34 degrees C today and has been up to 40 in recent days. A good change from the poo weather I left behind in Auckland.

It's funny to see how the price of petrol is affecting things here in Rockwall. The price did get up to about $4 per Gallon, but has gone down to around $3.70ish/Gal. So near enough to $1 per litre!!! lucky buggers.

One of the first cars I saw here was H2 Hummer and then another and then another. Dang people here like their big pickup trucks. Seen some pretty cool Corvettes and stuff as well. It's nice to here some good sounding V8s. Better than the sound of the new Holden Commodores that's for sure

hmmm, haven't seen any twinkees as yet.

Yeah temperature is crazy , but its more bearable than when I was in Malaysia earlier this year. The humidity is what kills you.

I'm here for almost four months, so I'd say I'll get used to the weather hehehe.

Ha, just got back from a steak house. It wasn't 2kg, but it was damn nice. Still got to get used to adding tips to the price and also tax.
Went to buy my $40 headset the other day. Got to the checkout and "that'll be $43.... sir" Damn prices without tax.


Had pizza fgor lunch. all you can eat for $4.99. I'd say I definitely got my money's worth hehehehe. They just keep on rolling the pizza out. Not like the NZ Pizzahut one, where after a while they just bring out the $hitty pizza flavours, so everyone leaves.

BUT. I did see guns for sale at walmart (like a big supermarket and the warehouse all together). they even had a little pink rifle for the girls hehehe. Funny as $hit!

Have you noticed how all there big trucks are petrol and not diesel. I work in the san joaquin valley CA for 3 months every year and am still amazed that there hi octane is only 91... When im there i drive either the chevy silverado in my pic or the F150. Love the fact it is so easy to navigate woth there numbered street, avenue and block system and cruising along the long freeways is great.
Theres heaps of things i love about the states like the cheap food and the cheap cost of eating out, also COSTCO is awesome, but heaps of things i hate like the way everything tastes like it has sugar added, the disgusting butter, and that americans are way to materilistic

no its not, they use a different rating than we do. we use RON they use PON.
from what i remember their 91 is about the same as our 95

i actually quite like the tipping system.

in my experience, your average american serving wench has 10x the friendliness and helpful attitude of servers working in way classier places in NZ.

its in their best interests to do well as their livelihood depends on people liking them.

as long as everyone gets behind it tipping works great, you just have to look at it as part of the expense and not be a stingy kiwi while you are there
