look for odd size bolts/nuts in engines... needed a 7mm bolt and the only place I got it was from a random engine.

I used to think that the orange and green tictacs gave you special powers. The orange ones would make you stronger and the green ones would make you faster. So i used to eat some green ones and run around my lounge as fast as i could, then eat the orange ones and try to pick up the sofa. I wish it were true!

Close, well kinda foreign. Its from a flange off the Getrag V160.

Doing a search online, it keeps coming up with re-tapping kits specifcally for 'Automotive' applications.

Cheers for suggestions, will look into these tomorrow.

Could always try an engine builder etc....they seem to have racks of bolts (EDIT: and nuts) of all different sizes.

Well i dont need bolts - only the nuts.

one thing i looked at was the possibility of running a diffetrent bolt and nut combo but then again, nothing really seems to come close.

what is there out there that comes close to this?

Anyone know of any landcruisers which are being parted out and possibly have a blown box?

What i'm after:

Try Fortress Fastners, they have almost every nut and bolt under the sun. I needed some funky bolt sizes for my stut brace brackets and they had all sorts of thread pitch and diameters (including matching nuts).

NUTS

Postby dirty1 » Mon Aug 25, 2008 3:09 pm

howdy, you might find that they are 7/16 unf nuts as quite a few cars seem to use them.
i sold nuts and bolts for a fastening company for 7 years and never come across m11.
you could try to take them into a fastener company like Hylton Parker fasteners or EDL

Tried Atom and they didnt know where to find. said best bet was to go to toyota for it. at the moment, thats a last case senario.

I have had a thought and think it could be like studs from where you bolt the axles to on a C5* box... thinking thinking!!

i had thought that it was something like a 7/16. that converts to about 11.01...mm doesnt it? had the guys at fortress have a look - nothing like it.

Cheers though.

Any idea on what length the stud is and the diameter of the splined part? I've got an inner C52 output shaft in the shed so could knock one of the studs out and have a measure up.
See ya

They're about 1.5" long and the splined part is about 10mm long.

Had a look at pick a part and the one i saw was about a 8mm thread. was on something like a cynos - well i think thats what it was on

might be easier to buy new studs the same length with the same spline in 7/16 or similar with matching nuts (avoid any future issues with finding new nuts in the future?)
