Dm clutches

Anyone had any experience with these?

I need a new clutch for my gze and a tgp one will set me back about the same price (The puk will be slightly cheaper).

Car will be a daily (in winter, summer it'll be part time), so was wondering how a 6 puk clutch will go. I do live in Masterton and don't encounter stop start traffic, or traffic jams etc.

Did a search on puk clutches in daily situations with mixed results.

Mainly after opinions on "TGP standard" vs. "DM 6 puk" clutch arguments.

you pay for what you get imo.

they say its the ultimate strip / track clutch - hardly seems likely for $400 - not to mention a 1300lbs pressure plate, the standard one is 900 or 1000 i think.

if the car is just a daily driver then you should be able to pickup an aftermarket standard replacement for nearly half that $400.

OK so read through some various other american forums (these seem to be on ebay), and they don't like them, so I guess I'll go with the TGP.

Also the company doesn't have a website :?

I think Sterling Brake and Clutch measured my AE92 GZE Pressure plate at 1200lbs (many years ago) - apparently TRD pressure plate was 1400lbs so I stuck with standard.

I'm using a 4puk Kevlar/CereMetallic sprung center - pretty "bitey" on the road.

Cheers.

I woulndt use their pressure plates.

But the solid centre puk plate seem fine.

They can handle 200fwkw at the strip no worries.

standard pressure on mine was ~1300lb so id say its probly a standard pressure plate.

its not much more expensive to get a kit made up anyway, I got flywheel skimmed, new bearing, PP adjusted to 1800lb's and tested, and a 4 puk solid centre disc for 600-700 from a speciallist clutch place a year ago. just shop around.

autoclutch in auckland is the one to talk to about modifying the clamp pressure it was neil i think that said he could modify them to double the clamp with the same pedal pressure around about.

+2 for autoclutch. Bought two off Neil recently and both are excellent. The man knows his stuff. Last pressure plate/4 puck/flywheel skim took them barely an afternoon! Called at about 1:30, had it in hands by 4:30. Put it in that night :)

I can get a standard exedy clutch for $420 including postage or a TGP for $460 plus postage, so I'm leaning toward the exedy.

The car is barely modded (4agze, CAI, exhaust, bluetop cams, pulley kit), so I'm sure the factory clutch can cope. Was just interested in the 5 puk cause it looked a good deal.
