Chrome plated steel.

Postby method » Tue Sep 09, 2008 3:55 pm

Im after some chrome flatbar, maybe 1mm thick and 25mm wide and 50mm long

Just a little bit, where can i get stuff like this from? Stainless steel would probably do. It just has to be shiny and match my cars chrome trim.

Has to be easily workable with basic tools, hence 1mm thick..

I think you'd be better off working with normal steel, then getting it chrome plated afterwards.

Otherwise you cut through the coating, and there's no real way to fix it up.

I dont think you can get pre chromed flatbar.

better of polishing up an offcut of stainless?

Why not a piece of aluminium , easy to work with and polishes easy with some metal polish..

Dont think they make chrome flat bar???

Yeah, thats why i was thinking stainless steel.

Its my cars chrome trim that runs up and along the top of the door and is attatched to the cars body. It is two piece, there is a gap above the drivers door and the gap is hidden with a chrome clip that goes over the joint.

Am missing one of them. Aluminium or steel probably wont cut it. Aluminium wont stay shiny for long. Maybe a bit of stainless flatbar then?

Plenty of KE30's being wrecked, why not just buy the part second hand, at the risk of being obvious.

Ive actually tried a couple of times on club-k, everyones out to make a buck. Last guy tried selling me a ke30 tail light for $130 or something ridicules saying they are rare when in fact they come on trademe for less than half the price all the time!

Might try again..

Do you know of anyone wrecking a ke?

Of course everyone's out to make a buck they're not going to give things away... I know of a couple rotting in paddocks, send me a picture of the part in question and I MIGHT be able to sort you out with something.
