Controlled Testing - Saturday 04 October

Postby cat007 » Sat Sep 13, 2008 4:24 pm

Hey all,

I'm taking my car alone for a fun day out on the 4th October round Puke

Can anyone point me in the right direction for rules and regulations? I cant seem to find anything. i.e. do I need a fire extinguisher? Do I need a race harness? What clothes can I wear? Do I need a fire suit etc etc etc???

http://www.countiesracing.co.nz/motor-r ... kingid=332

Cheers

Overalls and wear cotton based clothing, no nylon.
Motorsport is like sex. You could take it to track and have a long, enjoyable session, or you could take it to the strip and get it over with in less than 20 seconds.

hmmmm- I dont have any overalls - the only ones I could get would be from a mate and they'd be covered in paint, i.e. a fire hazzard, rather than fire-proof haha.

I was just thinking of wearing sneakers, jeans and a t-shirt and a helmet of course.....

At a bare minimum you'd have to have a long sleeved shirt, but I dont think you'd be allowed out without overalls.

you can wear mechanics overalls like the ones you get from repco, they're pretty cheap and thats what i use when i cant borrow my flatmates dads race suit, but i've seen heaps of people go round in tshirts etc. it's really pretty lax, i've never had my car checked for wof or anything like that at an open day (though it's had current wof every time i've been)

I might do as you say and buy a cheap pair from Repco. I guess they should be find as long as they're mostly cotton and long sleeved.

If you buy a pair with the intention of doing motorsport events, there is no such thing as 'mostly cotton'. Either 100% cotton or not.
If you just want to do the fun day, it doesn't say overalls so you don't need them... they might expect closed shoes though.

I have a wof and rego so that's fine.

What kind of times have you been able to do? I saw you say you do 1:15's in your project thread, but you were down on power?

why dont you email the organizers and ask them?
its what they want that matters.. not what anyone here THNKS

yep synthetic fabrics melt onto the body and = serious injuries if theres a fire. also tend to catch fire quite quickly.

A test day before Superlap pukekohe, no one was wearing overalls.
I started off wearing, but saw people wearing t shirts and jeans.
So i took my flame suit off (as it was very hot) and went out.
Prob should keep them on for safety.

But they didnt say anything...

Seems like very relaxed rules there. Once your on the track safety is up to you not them. I guess its all in the form you sign before you go out on the track.

Car doesnt need a wof and regestration. It can have 3 wheels if you think its safe to drive it like that. lol.
