Quick injector question

Postby TRD_ZERO » Sat Sep 13, 2008 7:02 pm

Im wanting bigger injectors for my blacktop once it is 4agte. I dont know much about injectors but these seem like they are side feed so what are my options on going bigger (not really wanting aftermarket items unless cheap)?

Gen 2 3SGTE = 440cc side feed. Gen 3 3SGTE = 540cc side feed. Gen 1 (ST165) and gen 4 (ST215 GTT) are both top feed afaik.

Gen 2 3S-GTE: Black
Gen 3 3S-GTE: Red/Brownish
USDM 2 Jay'Z: Indigo (Fancy word for the metro sky blue)

I have a set of USDM 2JZ-GTE 550cc side feed, want $300 for them if you are keen.

One thing with injectors is you don't want to go too big. Or else your computer will have problems with controlling them at idle.

You still want a fine mist of gasoline, not flood the chambers with huge droplets.
No "stance", no "hellaflush", none of that bullshit. Nothing but no grip on full boost.

Why would there be huge droplets?

there is a minimum pulse width that is required to actually get an injector to open.

With injectors too large, the amount of fuel injected may be too much for the engine,
and large injectors have trouble with a good spray pattern at really small pulse widths.

In saying that, the 800's in my 20v idle fine,

But for the MRS we are going to run 8 smaller injectors in staged sequence,
as 4 900cc injectors may be a bit much at idle for a less than 1300cc engine.

Cheers for that, i was always wondering why people run a second set of medium sized injectors instead of larger injectors =.

And also because we already have 8 440cc injectors that came out of
dad's GT40, lol,
they were to big for that, yet we will need all 8 of them on a motorcycle engine.
