Stock power outputs?

Postby Quirky » Tue Sep 16, 2008 5:56 pm

Hello peoples.
I just got my car of the dyno.
And i just want to compare results to see if my car is either making the correct amount of power, or too low?

Its a stock 4agze and the car made:
98kw ATW
156.2Nm of torque.
Ill get a picture soon

Is this within range with what other people got.

Temperature: 30 degrees.
Dynamic Test Systems dyno.

Im gonna purchase a K&N panel filter and go back to the dyno, and see if its a worthwhile purchase. Though it wouldnt matter since id have to buy the product in the first place...

only real way to compare to is do a direct comparison to a similar car on the same dyno.

on most dyno's though 98kw is a very healthy 4agze.

Yea i figured it had to be on the same dyno.

I am the only bloke with a 4agze within 500kms

There was a guy with a Blacktop 20 valve that made 84kw, and well, i laughed at those outputs.
Because dont the blacktop and 4agze make the same power on paper.
Thats a 15kw difference

Err am I missing something? You live in Welly, there are heaps of 4AGZEs around Welly - or did you just word that badly and actually meant something different?[/quote]

As far as 20v 4AGEs are concerned, the horses Toyota used to measure their power were really really small horses - its a fairly well known fact.

Making about the same power and torque as my bluetop... so about right for a 4agze

Looks about right if its standard, but which 4agze are we talking here?

EDIT: actually judging by that graph I'd say its a AFM 4agze? (waits to be proven wrong lol)

My torque works out at 142Nm, so couldn't help myself

Even the butt-dyno would notice 14Nm difference :P
Motorsport is like sex. You could take it to track and have a long, enjoyable session, or you could take it to the strip and get it over with in less than 20 seconds.

AE101 Levin?
And how could you tell by looking at the graph?

Unless a transplant has gone down, yours will be a MAP gze.

The power curves for each of the gze's are different.

I think the MAP one trails off a bit on power at higher RPM (correct me if I'm wrong)

Yea AE92 Corolla Hatch, with transplanted Levin motor
Anyways, i guess its making the right power, got the answer i need.

One last thing. My car has a really bad idle when the aircon is on. It flickers between 800rpm to about 1200rpm, it doesnt stall, but it really shakes the car up...

98kw at the engine seems a bit sluggy for a GZE though... Since some standard facelift silvertops will make 95kw ATW.

WTF? I've not even seen a stock blacktop make that much - even on happy dynos!

The reading is at the wheels, despite the fact that it says "engine"

Anyways, i stock blacktop makes 84kw ATW, at least on this dyno anyways.

Whose that? Loudtoy? Not sure actually. I remember it doing 92kw on Chequered Flag (happy dyno) but it had exhaust, filter and Jimmy tricks done - given that it also is possibly the fastest NA AE101 down the 1/4 in NZ still (I've not heard of quicker than 14.7 yet) it probably isn't a decent representation of the masses ;)

92kw and 14.7 down the quarter, whoar that is damn decent.
Im soon to take my Corolla in about 3-4 weeks time, and id be happy with a mid-low 15 secs (crappy tyres)
