Hi,

Just wondering if anyone knows the minimum WIDTH of wheel that I can put on the REAR of a 1997 Supra RZ.

The factory wheel on the rear is a 17 x 9.5.
Could I put a smaller one on than that (i.e 17 x 8")?

Any help would be appreciated.

i dont see why you couldnt put 17x4's on the rear, theres nothing to physically stop you.

why you would want to would be a different question, plus you would probably struggle finding alloys narrower than 7 or 8" wide in 17" diameter. though im sure you could find steelies or space savers to replace 17's if you really wanted to.

why do you want to go smaller for the rears? (hope I didn't read your post wrong and it's actually for the fronts lol), I mean I can understand for the fronts if you were going to do drag racing etc. less rotational mass, but the rears? wouldn't you want wider wheels to put wider tires and therefore more traction?

If that's the case just stretch some thinner tyres across the 9.5 rims

depends what and where you get them from

an 8 inch rim will fit as long as your offset is not too high, its runs at 37p from factory

hhmm small wheels and tires on the back of a rwd drive car...why would someone want that?

Factory on my MK3 is +48 or so, The JZA80 SZ wheels i've got are +50. 16x8 all round

Don't mistake wider tires for more traction, the correlation is not 1:1

Nope pretty sure the factory wheels are 16x7.5 +48.

The offset for a 97 MKIV is +50.

Just asking coz dragging on my 20"s is ridiculous (not to mention the $2000 each worth of rubber being worn away

). So I brought some smaller rims (17") but they are only 8" wide and I was getting worried they wouldnt fit. :oops:

(however bloody tsoob has tempted me with some 9" rims with MTs on them.... mmmmm.....damn u nick!!!)
