Floppy SW20 wing mirrors

Postby Adamal » Tue Sep 30, 2008 11:56 am

So I'm not sure if this is standard in all Japanese SW's, but mine has retractable mirrors which appear to have gone all floppy.

I've had a quick look at trying to tighten them up, but the screws on the bottom don't want to seem to 'tighten' up.

Rather than pull it apart, just thought I'd ask if anyone knows if you can replace anything inside, or if its just something I have to live with.

Cheers guys!
Motorsport is like sex. You could take it to track and have a long, enjoyable session, or you could take it to the strip and get it over with in less than 20 seconds.

Mine are floppy too.
Guess you've got to pull them apart, but bugger doing that.

Ditto got about 2-3 mm play on mine, quite sure its the plastic gears for the motorised retraction system, the gear teeth get worn over time and allow play.

The Mirrors themselves are easy to remove but then what ?.

If I had a spare $600 Id get some nice fixed Ganador M3 Style mirros.

My mirrors flopped around so I removed the mirrors from the car and tightened the screws underneath.

The screws were already very tight but they were out about 1mm so they must be able to be tightened (a lot easier when they are off the car).

Now there is just the backwards and forwards movement of the motorized retraction system.

Can't do much about that but they don't vibrate anymore, so now when I use them I don't get a 'fuzzy' image.

My mirror housing is 'floppy' not my actual mirror, can the mirror be taken off from the front to get to some screws or something that could be behind it?
Cheers,
