20v 4AGE Rebuild

Postby fuqne1 » Thu Oct 02, 2008 7:20 pm

Hi Guys,

Just want to get a rough idea of what it would cost for a full engine rebuild, nothing over the top just factory/standard parts. Looking at replacing rods, pistons etc etc.

Genuine, aftermarket, paying someone to do it, do it yourself, balancing etc etc?

btw, why are you wanting to replace rods and pistons? If you just want to give it a freshen up then a quick hone, rings and bearings would be fine.

Engine is a manual 20v SilverTop and done 200,000+ kms. I've replaced the cambelt, water pump, cam and crank seals plus spark plugs. Also replaced both front bearings.

Looking at doing the rebuild myself with help from the kind folk on this forum and some help from a few friends. I have another 20v SilverTop that has done 180,000+ kms but is an auto.

so its running, say it had run a bearing it may need a crank grind which costs more.

so if its running pretty well it should be realtively cheap
