Well had an "interesting" day at the track.
My oil drain was leaking which I wrapped in heat wrap, turned into a smoke machine, almost catching fire. So after about 3 laps, I had to stop.
I took the old pipe off - went into Pukekohe town to look for an engineers - although, being mid-day on a Saturday, that was a hard ask apparently, as the first 3 people said "nah cant be bothered" - useless c*nts!
Anyway - found someone who can do it - back to the track, now it's too short - bugger - so thanks to the oh so kind David Linton (thank you sir!!) - I soon had a long piece of rubber and was able to put it on!
Round the track - a few times - getting used to actually driving fast, and not crashing - I spun going into castrol - all I could think about was a video on youtube with a guy who did the same and mashed his mag on the ripple strip - so I managed to "straddle" the ripple strip and save me all sorts of problems hehe.
Anyway - I went in after that - let everything cool down - went out again - got a few good laps in - then, on the same corner, understeered and without driving onto the over-large ripple strips I straighted up and went onto the grass, then back on the track
Best lap of the day was a 1:15.4
Very happy with that - I wanted to get a 1:20 - so yay
Any - all is well with the car - except for the leaking manifold - dam.....
Video's of the spin and some incar laps will be up later this avo

Also, just for fun, I played the second lap from your first video with the second lap on my old video, using the totalspan bridge as a start/finish reference and our laps are pretty much identical! When my car is running again, I challenge you to a duel

1.15.. not too bad, my old man was out there testing for a guy, an old cortina with a 200hp zetec engine. He managed 1.10s in that boat of a thing. 7s faster than the owner lol.
Where were you braking for the hairpin?

I was braking at the tower thin on the left - which, according to google earth is about 300 meters out......

Fronts were brand new Toyo T1r's - 225/45/17
Rears were cheaper "Durun" tyres, 235/45/17

tower??... there are braking signs.. 200m and 100m...

Just road tyres! you need some semi slicks to drop your times considerbly, and will stop you from coming off the track
Toyo RA1s and R888s, really good priced as well.
Bazda wrote:Hmm that tower.. Im still on full tit! lol, I brake around the 170m mark going 260kph . I'm sure I can get it down to the 150m but not quite sure as the car is quite squirmy at 170m. Feels like i'm gona fly out the window from the Gs lol.

haha - yeah - I think I could brake a little later and it'd be fine - but I was really just learning how it all worked hehe.
woah - 260kmh - faster than me haha

Car cant go any faster as i'm sitting on the rev limiter in 5th gear at 8100rpm lol.
You want to be able to get down to the 200m mark with some better tires. I think 200m is a good starting point... but you still gota have some decent brakes i guess.
Keep on practicing

Decent fluid is a must for longevity, spongy pedal at 200 something is never pleasant!
Car looks well set up and that's a pretty good time for a first time out, you should be shaving a good few seconds off with some practice with lines and braking points Lots of time to be made up at the end of the straight.
If you're serious about improving your times have a look at Racechrono. Combined with a cheap bluetooth GPS and a phone loads of people already have you can get a LOT of useful data out.. Lap times, braking point, corner speeds etc etc
