LEXUS ANNOUNCES PERFORMANCE FIGURES FOR IS F

Lexus Australia has announced performance figures for its IS F performance sedan, due for Australian launch in November.

The IS F, derived from the IS Line of vehicles, features an all-new 5.0-litre V8 engine, an 8-speed Sport Direct Shift transmission and a raft of technical and performance upgrades.

Tested extensively at Japan's infamous Fuji Speedway, the IS F is the first performance-orientated model for the marque.

The IS F's key performance figures include:

- 311kW of power at 6600rpm

- 505Nm of torque at 5200rpm

- 6800rpm redline

- Fuel economy of 11.4 litres/100km

- 0-100km/h acceleration in 4.8 seconds

Lexus chief executive John Roca described the IS F as an extremely important vehicle for Lexus.

"The arrival of the IS F later this year will signal a new beginning for the Lexus brand," he said.

"Lexus now has a halo car in the IS F and as a consequence, we will attract a wider and younger customer base.

"The IS F is most certainly a hero car for the brand, and we fully expect it to stimulate sales of the IS 250.

"It's a very exciting time for us. Lexus will very soon have a complete IS range, including the new IS 250, IS F and IS Convertible.

"The IS range will become pivotal to our continued success in Australia."

Well I like it, but suspect it'll be well out of my price range.

4,8 0-100 is a good figure for a 4 door saloon but I don't no about the paddle shifting 8 speed auto really do they need that many gears.

its not so much a matter of if the consumer wants the 8 speed, its all about emissions, optimum performance, and fuel economy

Yeah but a 8 speed box still sounds like over-kill to me it must be geared for about 400 kph top speed.Apparently the only box that shifts quicker is the Ferrari Scuderia's flash auto.
