suspension bushes
I am looking at getting some bushes pressed out and the new ones pressed in to the rear suspension arms for the ma61.
Where in auckland (prefer west, but yeah will travel) can i go to get this sort of thing done?
Also, a place to get my engine mounts urethaned would be good too.
cheers

Any mechanic with a press will be able to do that for you, of you can burn/drill the old ones out and use a vice to press them in if you've got a decent sized one

Autolign is a rip for urethane eng mounts!!!
Just take your standard ones to Plus Plastics (in east tamaki), they burn out the old rubber, pour in some urethane. about $40 a mount!
Think autolign wanted like $100-120

Urethane!
I've used them for 2 years now and they provide awesome service and great prices.
Dad also uses them in his escort and customers escorts now.
They also do different hardness grades from 60A through to 95A

Mr Revhead wrote:ok, so you get them at trade, which is about the same as trade through autolign. depending on your discount
there are a few places in nz that do it
some are shockers!!
nope thats not trade, thats just the normal price.
When I first went there it was $20!!!! then price kept going up, until it got to $40 as they said $20 was too cheap and they not making any $ lol.
Anyone can walk in and get this price.
They arent suspension specialities or anything, they make anything plastics for big companies and machinery.

well autolign have been rubbish so far
$130 each for engine mounts and they said they would be ready last friday.
rang up on friday and not ready.
went in today.. not ready. Couldnt even tell me when i could expect them now.
Went to another autolign about my front arms, $50 to press in 2 ball joints and $130 to burn out 2 bushes and press them in.
$180 for what 20 mins work with the right tools?

they will be quoting standard workshop rates of about $75 an hour
the other autolign said half hour to do the rear swing arms (2 bushes each) where as the front arms only have one bush.
balljoints would take 5 mins to press in, if that.
ill burn the bushes out and get them pressed elsewhere

JRS wrote:have you driven a car with urethane engine mounts?
the vibration is pretty harsh. all good for a track toy but i couldn't live with it in a daily driver.
that said, the only ones i've driven were four cylinders, a big 6 might not be so bad.
only one way to find out.
i was a little concerned about that, but yeah i guess ill see when its going.

sweet, cheers.
Yeah i think the jz and 7m are fairly smooth running engines anyways. so should be ok.
still no word from autolign
