I'd happily own either, they'd both be a lot of fun. However, unless the lotto fairy visits, ownership is unlikely

Rather have the Porsche anyway

I agree with you there but with all these car makers now the Nurburgring production car record is more for status.

Me personally I do care because I like to no what a car I owned is capable around a track because thats what I like to do I would rather experience the performance than read about it.

For me Porsche are a very iconic brand and Nissan/renault are the up starts causing a commotion coming in to a realm that Porsche are pretty much always near the top of hence why I think there very defensive. But in saying this Porsche said in the article I looked at that the R35 is a very good car.

Porsche's are WAY too expensive to fix. You think the GT-R will cost a lot when stuff breaks? Heh.

Mum used to have a '77 911, and Porsche parts are moonbeams....
Motorsport is like sex. You could take it to track and have a long, enjoyable session, or you could take it to the strip and get it over with in less than 20 seconds.

Won't seem like it when you get a Porsche bill :P

If you go on those w#nky Porsche forums - esp the one in the USA there is alot of GTR35 hatred out there. Really no reason for it; I mean Nissan used the Porsche as their bench mark........i'd take that as a compliment!

But no the Germans wont do that, they firmly believe they build the best cars in the world. They do have amazing build quality and the GT3/GT2 are great looking cars but the GTR is what i'm into because I knew from a young age that i'd never be able to afford the Porsche and the Nissan performs about the same if not better.

That new ZR1 is sensational, have you seen the 7:23 lap on you tube? It does it with total ease. The new V-Spec sounded like a real step up from the regular GTR but with the world in recession I dont think we'll see it for a while yet.

I hope Toyota does bring out a new "Supra" or LF-A so you Toyota fans have a car you can all aspire to some day. It was pretty sad seeing the JZA80 go and not be replaced with a successor :(

I do love my Datsun and i'm always keen to race random Porsche's but they usually lose to my 17yr old car

got a 2001 or so porsche in at work atm. doesnt feel or go or look anything special. id have a R32 or R34 GTR over it anyday, and both those cars would shit on the porsche easy. why is it in at work? because after 27,000 ks, the retractable roof hydraulic jacks have started leaking. how much you ask? 3.5 G EACH (theres 2 of them) plus fitting. and you gotta wait for them to arrive from germany
EP82 GT-went mega hard for completely stock, 15.09 quarter, gone now :(

Its kinda hard thinking of buying earlier model GTRs now you no the new beast is now firmly fixed on the horizon.Yeah I agree Porsche should take it as a compliment that just about every Japanese manufacturer use the the GT2/GT3 as there benchmark not Ferrari,Lambo,Zonda but Porsche.

RH9 I'm like that to now with the F-Con in the car any Euro thats up to it,its on I love it.Funny though once you match there acceleration I have found the 2 good runs I've had with the fore mentioned GT3 and Maserati they back out of it once you get to about 160.....lol.....

That is the sort of reply I would have expected from a company like porsche in the first place, maybe they should hire the Nissan PR team to make themselves look less like stuck up wankers.

I would say there is a good chance Best Motoring will do a segment on this now.... Porsche have themselves quite a bit of egg on their face now, and its probably going to stick :)

Well if Nissan say they have photo and video evidence and the tyres they used for the lap well to me unless proven otherwise it sounds pretty legitimate to me.
