Is the air system needed for a wof?

Postby ChaosAD » Sat Oct 18, 2008 4:27 pm

When stripping out a car to reduce weight What parts of the interior are needed for a wof?

Ive got the front seats, seatbelts, front door trims and the dash still installed.

The blower/heater/aircon doesnt go. Is it ok to remove it? or is it nessesary for a warrant to to defog the windscreen or something?

What about the MSNZ schedules?

No heater, A/C, demister or anything is needed
Dash stuff is needed for interior impact reasons

EDIT - Sorry, I was covering WoF stuff, not MSNZ

MSNZ you *must* have a demister. Can be fan as per normal, or a stick on electric one etc. How you do it is up to you, but you've got to have something that will do the job.

Dammit *rumages through bin*

And if I used a stick on electric one I suppose I wouldnt get a warrant as it would probably be classed as an overlay

http://www.ltsa.govt.nz/factsheets/39.html
The term 'overlay' includes any surface treatment that's fixed to a vehicle's glazing. It can include clear film, tinted film and some advertising film.

The only overlays allowed on windscreens are anti-glare bands that extend no lower than the bottom of the sun visors, and film overlay stone guards on trucks and buses.

So are they legally not allowed but most wof guys turn a blind eye?

Are the stick on ones like the rear window demister? or less obtrusive?

If its a race car then your WoF will probably go easy on silly things like that

Easy fix on that one.

Get letter from LVV certifier to say it doesn't need certification. Laminate letter. Keep letter forever. Problem solved.

Sweet, just wanted to clarify as some wof guys get a bit powerhappy.

The material/sound deadening on the cabin side of the firewall. Is it just to cut out the sound? or is it also fire retardant?

Should I leave it in?
