Changing blacktop waterpump

Postby Voyeur » Sat Oct 18, 2008 10:25 am

Hey guys,
Can a waterpump be changed without disturbing the cam belt? or do i need to take the belt off as well. Pumps died and i want to get it done this weekend

According to the blacktop manual, no, it says to remove it. Just what i read, haven't done it myself.

I suppose it may be possible if you remove the stud at the top of the pump, instead of just the nut, but then you have the bolt behind the cam belt idler.

if you remove alternator, remove water hose off back of water pump backing plate, undo the backing plate too and and slide the pump and backing plate out sideways.. does it come out easy? (whilst bending the backing plate water diffuser tab that sticks into the block?)
