I have inspected the subs in hamilton and they are actually a very solid sub.
They use a carbon composite cone which has the surround woven to it.
They use a pretty decent basket which has little restriction of air flow in the back, though the basket does cover up the magnet structure.
The magnet aka motor has a large vent piece so that the sub can be used for daily street beating.
I reckon I could push through around 3 - 4000W before I burnt out the coils and the box is around 2-4 cu ft for an 18, so pretty efficient and wouldn't take up much space if you wanted it in the car.
After talking with others about it, we can't exactly figure out why Blaupunkt NZ would import so many or even why the parent company would make them as BP are not a company known for competition series equipment, but we are certainly not complaining on the build quality or availability of the subs to us at such a low price.
I will be entering the competiton and will be travelling from Wellington to Auckland for all 3 shows and am buying 3 of the subs for testing and playing around with.
Its a great sub and people should turn up to the show as well and have some fun with it.
I've heard that Performance Car TV will be doing a feature and V and Panasonic may be on board as sponsors as well
There is around $10k worth of prizes as well as spot prizes and giveaways and stuff, so turn up and see whats happening. It should be one of the bigger events of the year
