GTZ Supercharger cut out randomly

Postby .:O4AGTZ:. » Mon Oct 27, 2008 9:37 am

Well yesterday i had jsut left home probably got about 5km down the road and the car jerked a little and the engine check light had came on. Boost gauge showed supercharger obviously not working and was real jerky and gutless without it. Funny thing is tho, i turned around and went straight home, fired it up a few hours later and it all appeared fine. anyone think of any reasons? maybe something to do with the magnetic clutch on the supercharger maybe? car is due for a service, not overly due but definately due lol. will be doin that hopefully next week

Gone into limp mode. Check fault codes and see if there is anything in there. More than likely a fault with something else causing the ECU to go into protection rather than a fault with the supercharger

it wont throw up any codes until until it hits limp mode again will it? cos if its sitting there now idling up to temperature nothing is wrong it, so i guess i have to wait till it happens again and do it then right?

Sounds a bit like a prob I had with my AE101GTZ...
It would sometimes run ok but othertimes jerk and splutter
I ended up replacing the computer - I understand they can have a similar prob to the silvertop computers where the capacitors fail.

It wouldn't show any codes at all when you jumped the diagnostic pins.

I used to think that the orange and green tictacs gave you special powers. The orange ones would make you stronger and the green ones would make you faster. So i used to eat some green ones and run around my lounge as fast as i could, then eat the orange ones and try to pick up the sofa. I wish it were true!

Id just bridge terminals and check it anyway, ecu may have stored it?

I have had to replace a couple of AE101 gtz ecus, they do play up!, not saying thats the problem in you're case, may well be a sensor also eh!.

I have a similar problem with mine every now and again mostly under load it splutters and jerks around then i just back off the accelerator then put my foot down again and its fine. I checked the codes and the only fault was speed sensor.

I had a problem with my S/C AW11. Ended up being the S/C relay.
Got that sorted and away she went.

hmm yea sounds like it could be many things. took it out for a drive again today and nothing bad happened at all. could it just be a once in every ages sort of thing? ill bridge the terminals and see if it throws anything up tho
