Most road cars unless running a 4.5:1 diff (or higher) spend most of the time on a race track in 2nd and 3rd gear...............

yes but I seriously doubt you do 230kmph in autocross then straight into a hairpin :P

after going in pc's car at the autocross last weekend , and having driven my moderately powered car on the track, i can say I actually prefer the lower powered/high grip car

massive g forces cornering around a cone circuit in 1st and 2nd gear and high rpm , and insane braking distances, combined with tight as corners are hilarious.

What's wrong with cornering at over 160kmph?

have you noticed that cornering in an aircraft at 600km isnt much fun. same sort of thing, high speed tracks get pretty boring after a while, the g forces are actually relatively mild.

being in a small lightweight car that can turn and stop on a dime, with only race seats and harnesses stopping you from departing the vehicle at high speed is way more fun.
I was more shit scared going around cones at 50-100km with tire walls all around me than i was at 190km hitting the anchors hard at Manfield.

both types of racing are a blast, both have their good points but I know what i enjoyed more.

I tell you what I was really sceptical about Autocross and the whole cone scenario but there were 4-5 cars that really impressed me on that Monday. But to be honest I reckon in most case's it is a car specific event. If I were to do it at slipway I can honestly see myself doing alot of damage to a $50,000 plus dollar car hence why I did not enter.

I would feel alot safer going around corners doing 140-150 and doing 200 plus at Manfeild to be honest.

yeah wasnt suprised you left the supra in the carpark. it was a very tight course suited specifically to smaller cars. the r33 there did some good clean runs though.
the whole not feeling safe thing is where the adrenaline come in, its a good rush to ride passenger with a nutcase
