AE85 diff to fit KE3x... maybe LSD if im luky

Postby trd-drifting » Thu Nov 13, 2008 7:17 pm

I know nothing about these type of cars so here is where your expertise comes in,

first if i got a AE85 diff to fit KE30/36 with a standard open diff in it and dum brakes. Can you just change the head to LSD, will th axles fit etc...

Next if possiable what ratio LSD's heads will be avaliable and how muhc would you expect to pay for them. Also what vechicals just want a cheap LSD in my daily as the open diff frustating me :S and do not want to spend much money

Any help appreciated

You'd have to change the mounts to fit an AE85 diff to a KE3x obviously, so thats a big cost to start with. Also LSD's are very very hard to come by for S code diffs.
Your best bet is to find a cheap Corona diff and get it shortened, then early AE86 LSD's will fit.

get an ae86 diff. alot easier and less hassle than getting an lsd head to fit an ae85 diff.

Nah by hard to come by I mean nigh on impossible to find...I dont know if they were even an option for new ones, and the TRD ones were discontinued many eons ago.

Its a stock 2tgeu fuel injected so not much, less then 100hp at the fly i would pressume. Its a daily so a locker is sorta out of the question, even tho i have one sitting in the shed for it.

Thanks for the responce guys answers my questions so the best way to go is either hilux lsd then i can get any ratio i like nearly or ae86, and i would be looking at over a grand including buying diff and getting shortened etc... (resplined redrilled and new mounting points), was reading on here that a guy got his hilux diff set up about $700ish. Just a bit more than i am willing to spend on a daily could justify if it was my toy.

Thanks heaps Josh

i would go wil f series(u can u altezza lsd in them) and hilux lsd is a waste of time, lockup setup all worng for a street car. and weight of hilux diff behind a 2tgeu would kill the fun of driving it.
