The other car that I didn't think of is the Mitsubishi Mirage/cyborgs, either the Mivec ones or the older ones, nice and light and like a good mitsi most of the parts among the range are like lego and you can chop and change them. Easy turbo conversion if I ever get that way inclined again.

AE92,
That's what I'm doing.
I've got an AE92 FXGT, gonna put a blacktop in it along with the C56-04C I picked up. Got some TEIN coilovers off trademe for it along with a few other goodies.
Also, I'm 6 foot 4 tall, and found an easy fix to not fitting in it properly. Just got some seats from a AE92 Levin and they sit lower than the FXGT ones, so work are a nice cheap mod.

I've always liked the shape of the AE92 FXGT and they are really nice to drive, so I can't wait to see how it goes with the Blcktop in it.

should go well.
Everytime i look at my fxgt i think i should put rego on hold and keep it for a rainy day to turn into a track toy.

Someone should buy it so i can stop getting ideas!

AE101 FXGTs.. I rate them. I was a bit iffy about getting mine, (being silvertop, and factory! lol) but after a few months of ownership, you'd have to prise it off me, has to be one of the best handling fwds I've ever owned, and I've owned quite a few!

Its' light, incredibly chuckable, factory twinpot brakes so it stops well, power isn't anything flash but like most light fwd hatches (EF3, EF9, AE82/92 FXGT etc, all of which I've owned or driven) what you lack in the straights you make up for in braking and corner entry speeds. Although, I'm sure with normal mods it would open it up a lot, I've heard of a red one over in Papanui with a front mount.. that would be a quick car, and something I'd love to do to mine!

The EF Honda hatches are good wee cars, fast and light.. but you can't help but feel as though its' about to fall apart! All the Honda hatches I've owned, once jacked up you lose about an inch in door alignment, which speaks volumes for chassis build quality, unlike the FX.

Haha, I'm yet to see a straight one of those! GA16DEs aren't exactly powerhouses either! :)

Yeah having crewed for a driver when the GT Cup cars were a national series you will NOT find a fully straight one. However they had good corners and a SR20DE and 5 Speed with LSD from a N14 SSS is a drop in.

I have had a couple of fangs in the one I crewed on and they handle VERY well, with the GA16DE they were basicly flat everywhere. :)

Anyone got any experience with these cars? I know the Peugeot 205Gti isn't the easiest to get parts for but I heard they're reasonalbly reliable and handle real well.... plus I have always liked them. I don't know much about the Nissan plusar gti's but I know they used to have their own racing class and heard good things about them.

Actually no, the Sentra GT with its GA16DE engine had its own race class, not the SR18DE powered GTi

the yellow civic you posted up is an eg6.

MILLIONS of aftermarket parts for them.

if you get bored of the power, swap it out for type r b18c. bolts straight in 200hp. change the gearbox to type r (helical lsd). put prelude front discs on for stopping quick.

then take your pick for suspenson.

mint car!!

also bump for crampys corolla. is gonna be rad. do it.
12.7@174kph. no turbo, no supercharger, no NOS, ALLMOTOR.

According to info on this page http://ae101.tappsville.com/chassis/history.php The AE101 is 120KG heavier than the AE82 with the AE92 being 60KG heavier than the AE82.
I wonder how much of that extra weight is in removable interior?
Can anyone verify these weights? I always wondered what my AE82 weighs in factory spec.

AE82 = 930kg
AE92 = 1020kg
AE101 = 1080kg

The AE101 is wider and longer (surprisingly not taller) than the other FX's.
So it'll likely have more of everything - more steel, more class, more sound deadening, more carpet, more internal bits.

Going by the figures from here and twincam.org;

AE82 FXGT with 960kg and 130hp has 7.38kg/hp
AE92 FXGT with 1020kg and 120/140hp has 8.5/7.28kg/hp
AE101 FXGT with 1080kg and 160hp has 6.75kg/hp.

So even though its' heaviest, the AE101 still has it in power to weight.

Mine still has everything, I'm sure that if I removed most of the interior, the 9-speaker (!) factory stereo and aircon etc, it wouldn't be far off the AE92.

Although, an AE82 with a tickled blacktop and LSD would be pretty nuts as a trackcar!

Couple of years ago RS13 you would have never recognised that the silvertop actually has 160hp :lol:

well I can comment on the fxgt vs Gti pulsar debate as Ive had both :lol:

My fxgt was something a bit different half cage adjusties etc... :lol: but it went hard and handled bloody well and I tell ya the GTI went just as well although in the wet the fx gt didnt understeer as much 8)

The GTI pulsars go very well, rev hard all day long and being a chain driven motor I never had concerns about giving it the berries.

I took both around pukekohe and the fx with the cage handled better but the gti went pretty damn good to.

And if u ever got really keen the sr20 froma GTIR will fit too :twisted:
