Good intake set-up for quad throttle bodies?

Ok so I have the exhaust sorted but now want to focus on an air intake set-up. The Carina has the blacktop 20v but not a whole lot of room in the front to duct cold air from the bumper or grill.
By removing the box around the throttle bodies, putting trumpets on them and having the windscreen edge of the bonnet raised slightly to allow air in will this work well? Or just build a cold air box where the filter is and have some sort of scoop?
Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

I'd say the scoop + cold box idea.. Has been trialled in Pro 7, although using a RX7, but it's effective..

Best to leave the intake mani, trumpets etc as it is and make a standard cold airbox setup

Sort of, it's got a small pipe/connection leading there to a small plastic box thing, resonator?, but the main one is front facing from near the rad

I use the section to the guard connector as a temp (ok its been 3 years, yes I'm slack), intake point to a shielded pod. Eventual plan is to use the under guard as a source of cold air, stainless to cold air box, or shielded pod, then stainless to the intake thing on the throttle bodies. Though mine is a silvertop, but same idea

From factory its set up well, so imo best results will be had from getting cold air to the factory filter air box.

Running just trumpets sounds cool, but sucks the power from lower end and shoves some of it back in around 7000rpm . Overall you end up being slower. As tested by my butt dyno anyway, after running filtered trumpets for a while, reverting back to factory intake gave me much better (again butt dyno) torque lower in the revs.
