4age oxygen sensor unplugged

Postby Sh0ckwave » Fri Nov 28, 2008 4:41 pm

I changed the exhaust on my ae101 this week and noticed that the oxy sensor was unplugged and the connector taped up :?

Should I plug it back in or just leave it? Maybe get a new sensor because it wouldn't have been unplugged unless it was stuffed right?

Nah, I changed the exhaust myself with a complete modified system I got off XS1V. The oxy sensor looks like it's been like that for a while...

In that case it is the 02 sensor, it may have been left unplugged accidentaly after a clutch change etc. Anyway your fuel economy must be pretty bad without it so I'd reccomend plugging it back in and see if you notice any difference or if it brings up any error codes first before you think about replacing it.

Hmm, yeah I'll plug it in and see what happens. My fuel economy isn't too bad, around 500km to a tank of 95 RON usually.

I had mine unplugged for a while. I think if you plug it in, you'll find it runs like crap because the sensor is buggered. I ended up cleaning mine, car runs fine now.

Everyone keeps saying that having it not connected makes it chew through fuel, this isn't true, I get very consistent mileage regardless of whether or not its' plugged in.

It only effects mapped driving its dependant on throttle and rev condition, and its effect varies from 4age version

and also if the oxy sensor is stuffed it wont make a difference if it is unplugged or not as its a voltage creating device

this means when most people dont plug them in it doesnt make a difference cause there oxy sensor is stuffed thus not making any voltage...

most ecus wont throw a fault code, because it just thinks its a lean senario only on the late model versions with heaters to they produce a fault code.
