how do YOU know what sort of fluid was used and wether it is good or bad? it's simply a float switch in the reservoir, it can't magically detect the quality of brake fluid in there.
take a photo of the reservoir with the cap and strainer removed and post it here. either the fluid is too low or the float is stuck at the bottom of it's travel.
