But I look forward to them having the V-Spec GT-R on the track when its released. Sheds 100KG and gains like an extra 40kw. Should produce an interesting time.

I to am interested to see how good this thing is going to be also as with the base model being as good as it is.The only problem being apparently its going to be in the $200 plus K NZD this is the only down side I can see.The GTR's looks are starting to grow on me as well as I thought at first it was ugly as sin.

I see the final pricing for the V-Spec is out.A fully speced R35 GTR V-Spec get this $340 K NZD F**K me I did'nt think they would hit that price plateau now thats genuine Porsche $$$$s right there but I guess with a little more performance.520-530 HP over-boost function for overtaking so that will pump the mid-range nicely.Have to say though it looks as aggressive as,but in saying that $340 K for a Nissan I don't no if people will be able to get there heads around that one.

Though I reckon if they do a sub 7.20 at the Nurburgring that might enhance there chances of buying into that big price tag.

Yeah I think whether people would consider it 'worth it' will be very much dependent on the new time.

340K isn't that much still*....I mean, look at the price difference between a 'base' DB9 and the DBS.....A DBS is twice the price of the the DB9 (about half a million compared with 250K)

a Porsche turbo here is $325 K NZD... and the base GTR is faster. Porsche can charge that money because their cars are fast and well built. The Nissan is the same. To me at least, the importance of the few grams of metal contained in the badge of a car is far less than the millions of grams contained in the rest of the car. Judge it on that not the badge.

*well....you know, relatively speaking ;). We will have to see what the official NZ pricing is too.....could be high due to our weak dollar. Is that the official price? Link?

Nah I don't have a link I was just reading it in a mag at a bookshop I think they said 15.6 million yen for the base model V-Spec and 16.2 million for the fully speced version apparently they are also bringing out a even more racier version than the V-Spec aswell. To me I don't no why they beat around the bush just bring out the best they have got instead of a base model V-Spec and then there faster model.

UK Autocar stated there would be no additional power for the V-Spec but less weight.

Hmmm... I'd be surprised if there was no extra power...

You could just wait for the V-Spec II NUR edition, which should have around a million horsepower :)

It is a bit hard to figure the prices because you are converting straight from yen to NZ$ which has lost almost 50% of its value against the yen since the GTR was brought out. Has the R35 GTR gone up in price in NZ?

Except they used a GT2 and Nissan quoted the time for the Turbo.

At the end of the day this will never be settled but the amount of effort that Porsche has put in to discredit the Nissan time shows how worried THEY are about the GT-R

This is the best article I have seen when comparing the 2 cars and to me there is a clear winner but at almost twice the price it was'nt totally unexpected. When it came to straight out speed it seemed the Porsche had a real clear advantage as I think its top speed it reached was 181 mph and the GTR's top was just under 170.But through the lower speed corners the GTR's AWD grip gave it the clear advantage.

It will be real interesting to see what the V-Spec puts up they are talking sub 7.24 so that'll be interesting to see.

yeah was quite informative
also backed up what a lot of the reputable testers say
though i was surprised when they said the porsche handled some of the wet bumpy bits a bit better under acceleration.
also confirmed what pretty much every comparison has said about the driver feel etc of the cars

Resurrection! This debate is still going on, with both Porsche and Nissan heading back to the ring recently. Porsche have done a 7min 40 in the new GT3, faster than any time they have been able to set in a GTR. Nissan have claimed 7min 27 for the V-Spec but we all know that is a load of crap. If Walter Rohl says something about the ring you believe him! Dirty Nissan liars.

I don't think we'll know the real truth until someone independent tests both of them under similar conditions.
I mean its a bit like me saying I could do the ring in 12 minutes in my ae101, but can only do it in 15 in a Koenigsegg, because I'm not used to it, and don't know how to drive it properly, and how far I can push it. It doesn't make my ae101 quicker, it just means I don't know how to get the best out of the Koenigsegg.

I think we need to take what manufacturers say about another's product with a grain of salt.

Oh, we KNOW their full of crap? Interesting claim!

Remember, it wasn't Rohl who took the GT-R round the ring for Porsche, it was a chassis engineer.
They said that the guy was an 'Ring 'expert', but the guy who drove it for Nissan has driven in F1.
