89 Celica - 3SGE - Plug w/Jumper Wires?

Postby TazzieDevil » Wed Dec 10, 2008 11:53 am

Hi,

I was tidying up some wires yesterday while attempting to fix up the stereo wiring in the dash. I came upon a thick bunch of wires that ended in a female plug, with around 20 wires. There was some electrical tape on the end, which I figured I'd take off and fix up.

However, when I removed the tape, before I realised it, there were two wires, barely 2 inches long that were obviously used as "jumpers" between points.

Now the car won't start. If I turn the ignition on, the dash lights up like normal, except for the Battery light, the windows still work and the stereo, so don't think its a general electrical thing.

Problem is that the engine won't even turn over now.

I'll have a picture up tonight, but any suggestions would help :)

Cheers

I'm just wondering if that's from the alarm that was in her before I got her. the alarm had been removed but it looked like it could have been removed incorrectly.

I wonder if you trace some of the wires back whether they will go to an immobilizer somewhere.

You know, that makes sense!! I found the Glass Break sensor in there which was still wired into the electrics.

Mmmmm,.....

sounds like its an alarm plug and youve pulled the jumper for the starter cut if the alarm is unplugged

The car hasn't had an auto to manual conversion at any time? Could have been park switch

Was an alarm wireing harness. 1/2 hour with some wire clipers and she's all good.

Figured out which terminals to jump, which took 10 minutes, then realised it would be better just to rip it out. So its all sorted now.

Cheers muchly for suggestions.
