celica diff, brakes front and rear, struts etc into ke35

Postby mint ke35 » Fri Dec 12, 2008 1:22 pm

Hey everyone

I've been planing a brake and diff upgrade for my ke35 for a while now, but I cannot decide on the right setup. Ae86 lsd diff and brake setups are popular but may be out of my price range so I thought maybe an older celica solid axle diff, brake setup and celica front struts, brakes etc may work.
I understand that a celica solid axle rear end may be hard to come by but it may also be cheaper. I also realise that some dimensions, for example the length disc to disc, will vary in between the two cars but I believe that I can work them out. I am also getting rid of the leaf springs and fabricating new mounts etc for either very short shocks or basic air bags so that side of things doesn't matter, I can make it however.
Any info on any needed fabrication, suggested models or years of celica or just info on it not being possible would help a lot. Thanks.

Right my budget is probably $1500 max for the diff and suspension setup in the back and $500 max for the front brakes/struts.
The car will be mainly a daily driver but I live a while out of the city and tend to travel so I want it to be comfortable but handle well as well.
I do care about suspension geometry and handling that's why I'm replacing the leafs. The air bags won't be for looks, they are only a possibility because of the limited vertical space for standard springs/shocks

ic ic. well 1500 is not going to get you much. the mods needed to bolt a 5 link diff to a ke35 will prob be $1000 then you have to buy the diff.
brake up grade for the front will be $500
you can prob fit ae92 shocks in the ke35 struts. kyb's are $170ea.
and your car will probably be off the road for at least a month.
i can give you a number for a guy i know who does this sort of thing. hes in chch. he already has the brake up grade on the shelf.

Alright then, i need some more money.
How much do you think ae92 shocks would cost me?
Sweet, if you could give me that number. But what would be in this off the shelf package?
