3s dizzy caps,

hopefully some of you 3sg guru's will know if a gen 1 dizzy cap will work on a gen 2 dizzy. this is for a mates rwd conversion, and the only thing stopping him from using the oem ignition setup is that dang coil plug that sticks out so much on the gen2 dizzy caps, ive seen pics of the gen 1 cap and the coil plugs in from the top not the side, would it fit? i assume it would work seeing as the engines are pretty much the same specs.
