Postby Nezza » Thu Dec 18, 2008 9:47 am

Will 4k eninge and 5 speed gearbox from a ke70 corolla fit into kp60 1981 starlet? I think the engine bolts straight in, not sure bout gearbox. Will i have to cut a hole for shifter?

Yes you will need to cut the tunnel to make the gbox fit. Engine bolts straight in

you will have to cut a hole for the shifter to come through as the ke70 gboxs are a bit longer.

Yeah the Starlet ones are much harder to come by. Its not hard to trim the gearshifter hole to suit a KE70, though the centre console might foul slightly.

The plastic bit that the gearlever comes up through, with the lever being about 50mm further back it can hit the surround when you pick 2nd and 4th. Just trim it to suit, or remove it.
