What is the difference in suspension between AE82 and EE80?

Postby ee80turbo » Sun Dec 21, 2008 2:03 pm

The reason I want to know is because I have a EE80 hatch, I put new EE80 strut inserts in the rear with standard springs, and put the springs and shocks out of an AE82 hatch in the front.
It seems to sit way higher at the front than at the back, is this because AE82 has stiffer springs due to bigger engine?

Can I put the standard EE80 springs back in the front with the AE82 strut inserts will this make the ride height the same at front and back?

yes they will probably have stiffer springs

also there is the possibility that the rear springs have sagged with age, not uncommon to see those cars sagging in the rear.

ee and ae shock fitment is the same

If its just the spring that doesn't really explain it as your 4efte should weigh about the same as a 4a (4age?) so should compress the spring about the same.

I was hoping to put these fxgt shocks and springs that I have from my donor car into my ee80, even before I get the blacktop mounted in there.

So I should be able to put the springs from the EE80 into the strut inserts that I got out of the AE82?

Also I just saw there is some strut inserts on TradeMe for $100 but the guy selling them mentions there is two different bolt hole patterns for AE82? Will these fit my EE80?

I think they are the same ones I saw, but can't get on trademe at the moment. I decided not to get them just cos it sounded a bit dodgy.
