Got the alternator problem again.

Bought a new alternator 3 months ago and now it won't charge.

I have the exact same problem as I had before. Replacing the alternator seemed to fix it. But now I am not sure if its the alternator itself. It could be other wiring.

Symptoms are:

Battery charge light on.
Cat converter light on.
Engine fan light on.
Voltmeter gauge needle at the bottom of the shaded area.

the other warning lights are because of low voltage, if you brought it new, it should have a warranty. take it back.

Belt is fine. I check it regularly.

Warning lights make sense.

Think I will sell this car. Had so many problems with it.

Sounds like the alternator is a dud. Was it rebuilt or just someone parting a car out?
Motorsport is like sex. You could take it to track and have a long, enjoyable session, or you could take it to the strip and get it over with in less than 20 seconds.

I can repair them as am an Auto Elec,

but really dpends on what's wrong with it as to the $$$.

Also if it's had a bad patch up on the rotor, they are basically a throw away job.
They can be repaired properly and sucessfully, but not after they have been butchered.

The diode went pop so they gave me another whole alternator.

I still have my original alternator, I think that just needs new brushes. So I may get that fixed up as a backup if I ever have problems again.
