There's a difference between could do it and would do it.
Could he give it to you with 3K and get it back turbo'd?

I know damn sure I could turbo it for less than 12K too,
but since he said

there'd be a shite load of labour involved, a it Will need the rods changed as they are blacktop.

There is no price to do the job as one place may do it one way and charge 7K, and anothr may do it a bit different and charge 16K.
12K was a stab in the dark,

You could always give it a go yourself. But starting with a blacktop prob isn't the best idea. Maybe you should make it an n/a monster :P

there is a difference in just turboing it, and turboing it properly. the price difference is ALOT.

i have aquired everything needed minus piping, joiners and oil feed line to turbo my ae70 and its cost me $700.

T25 turbo, 4agze injectors, 450X180 intercooler, BOV, cast manifold $700

plus tuning of $5-600, done turbo for $1500

yeah odds are it wont last all that long but stranger things have happened.

aiming for approx 150rwkw

Hah, you'll near double that once you pay for piping, joiners and oil feed. Unless you cheap out and use mild :?

Decent tyres (do a search on here :P) will stop any sliding of the car unless its got something else wrong with it. Which i'm guessing could be the case as they handle well when everything is fine. Unless you drive it like a muppet anyway

I run, Toyo T1R Proxies 205/40 17"

Im running the same and have no probs with braking lose, expespecialy once theres heat in them. as for power, try a 3" intake pipe in to the frount guard with a hi flow pod filter. And if turbo still tickles your fancy go the agte route, or s15

5-600 for a tune, sounds reasonable for an aftermarket computer, but hey, a new link, or at least a g3 ideally for 20v set you back a fair whack more as well.

thats a bit of a blanket statement, it really depends on how much power you want to make and how much you can do yourself. what pray tell is the different between 'just' turboing it, and turboing it properly?

for someone like D1 mule who has modest power aims and is able to do a fair bit himself, 5k is probably a massive budget.

if you wanna do things cheaply, it costs in the long run, trust me as i know, especially with 4agte's, btu hey, up to you i guess, and especially with a 20v as you should be spending at least 1500 on computer and tune, because of the quads, whether it be f all power all 200+kw that you want. it's not gonna run right unless you do that.

buying a cheap second hand turbo, could last you 5000kms, could last you 30,000kms, luck of the draw buying second hand,

then there is the intake manifold on the 20v, that needs changing.... $$$

dont get me wrong, i understand how it can be done cheap, my first setup was "reasonably cheap" but it was too unreliable, hard to get it running right etc. if you can do stuff yourself it's cheaper,

but this guy doesn't seem that to be able to do much, asking this question in the first place, and being 20v wanting to turbo, prices keep going up.
