Down again to $132.9 according to stuff.

Theme of oil companies getting record profits will still continue I suspect.

What I am wondering now, is when do we see dairy prices drop here considering that the international prices are down. Roll on the price of butter, cheese, and milk dropping ...

how long till the goverment decides they need to tax gas more? I seem to remember gas going over the $1 mark because of an increase in tax by the goverment

Got to remember that you don't put crude oil in your car.... Just because the oil price is the same as some historical date doesn't mean the price of the refined products will be the same. Refining margins will depend on the supply and demand of fuels, global refining capacity, plant shutdowns etc, cost of electricity, the list goes on.

I think we should be grateful to have a considerable drop. Sure, I'd like it to go lower, but if they wanted, the gas companies could be pricks and still be charging us the same prices as 6 months ago, and all the whinging and moaning in the world couldn't change it!

They only talk one language, money. I ain't gonna pretend they have a soul.
Motorsport is like sex. You could take it to track and have a long, enjoyable session, or you could take it to the strip and get it over with in less than 20 seconds.

I heard (second hand) that the govt had an input on a recent drop - put pressure on the companies to put the price down? They have to conform to the cga which says something about prices for goods being fair and reasonable :D

It wouldn't surprise me if the Gov secretly lowered the tax and said "Hey! We MADE the oil companies bring the price down!"

:P

Of course, I'm kidding.

Was an epic cartoon in the ODT the other day, showing Gerry Brownlee as a Jerrycan. With a bit above it saying, if anyone can get fuel prices down.....

Criminal ?? So you're saying that if YOU had a company spending billions to get oil out of the earth you'd just give it away ? Don't be ridiculous. Its a business yes, and due to its nature it is susceptible to outside pressures ( government, terrorist activity etc ) and while we would love for petrol companies to make fuel cheaper they wont. Why would they ? Its a business, just like selling water. People pay up to $3 for half a litre of water ... THATS criminal.
