And if your curren isnt superstrut, and you dont switch the superstrut with it, youll need alot of custom work as the curren suspension (non-superstrut) is so borederline close to allowing the flooring from a GT4 in.

Jazza dont get stuck in the mentality of pouring huge amounts of money into a car, just because it's the one you've got.

Seriously man, a 3SFE curren is a steaming turd of a vehicle. (In the context of a base for modification)
If you had a higher spec one with SS and 3SGE, then.. sure, perhaps.

How will you feel when you discover that you've spent mega bucks to make your car RWD, and it still wont handle or perform nearly as good as a RWD car you could have bought for 1/5th of the price.

There's a good idea why some ideas are 'orignal', and it's because they're crap ideas that arent cost effective, and serve no purpose.
Making a FWD street car into a RWD street car is one of those things.

P.S. If you're wanting to build a show car... Please, for the love of god dont waste your money. :?
Show cars have to be the WORST thing ever.

The last time i checked under my car it had a transmission tunnel, and like its already been said, the curren and celica, and most probably including the GT-4 variant, all share the same basic chassis and most parts, sure the Gt-4 would have some different bits to accomodate its running gear but its nothing that can't be swapped out and stuck into your curren, in theory all the parts should fit given you know what your doing and that the chassis is the same. It may extend to using more gt-4 parts than you may want to but its definetley feasible.

Ive considered this myself, but not to RWD,but 4WD, since all the power runs through the front anyway you would lose too much power to make RWD feasible from the 3S.

If you really want something unique, and have deep pockets, get a Nissan RB or SR and get the running gear from a S14 or something, thats dedicated RWD, otherwise stick to Gt-4 parts and go for full time 4WD

Also, ive heard a 3SFE can be turboed without too much work, a piggyback ECU is needed, and semi low boost needed to prevent damage. OR go down the Altezza route and try and get a Blitz Supercharger kit for the 3SGE, hell, why not twincharge it?

So you're going to take a highly spec'ed Curren, gut it, tear it apart and then pour tens of thousands of dollars into a project that could possibly remain unfinished ( = wasted $$$), in the middle of a recession?

I too have a Curren ZS-Sport, and I had the same idea as you- even had some chump drive in to the back of it, and I again had thoughts of going that step further in the repair to graft in the GT-4 running gear. But it is gonna cost serious dollars, it might not work and even then won't be as good or as sellable as a GT-4. Insuring it will be a PITA too.

Don't get me wrong- great idea, wish I had the money to do it, but unless I win the lottery, it ain't happening for me. Good luck if you try it, and let us know how it's going, but please use a wrecked ZS sport- don't waste a decent example!
