5A Engines (quick question)

Hi All,

Looking at buying a car for my sister in law and have come accross a corolla with a 5a engine.

Any they as bullet proof as the 4a's? looking at getting one with 250,000 odd k's

my brother has a 5afe sprinter. its absolulty mint. and pulls hard for a 1500 they seem just as reliable if not more than the 4as

We've got a little ae100 with 5afe - 310,000km and going strong! juuust starting to use a wee bit of oil - nothing major and not smoky/leaky, just gotta top up now and then to keep it on the full mark.

I reckon they're an excellent little engine - no real performance but they do have nice, easy power
