A70 supra with Z20 soarer front end. whats needed?

Postby trdtrueno » Mon Jan 12, 2009 9:01 pm

hi guys, as title says was looking into doing this to my supra, have found some guards, bonnet, headlights and a bumper off a z20 soarer, what else would be needed to complete this conversion??

for those that are interested here is a picture of one, may have seen it floating around somewhere

I looked at doing this, the whole front end of the car needs to be modified to make the panels fit, none of it just bolts on like you might think.

The angle of the A70 front is much steeper, so you'd need to space the guard mounting point at the front to make the Z20 guard sit properly,

You pretty much need the entire radiator support panel because the Z20 lights mount to it, including the bit with the bonnet latch, because the Z20 bonnet sits higher.

The curved bit on the back of the guard where it meets the door is a different shape.

The top of the guard where it goes up to the A pillar is different.

I never checked the distance between the chassis rails, I assume its the same, but you would definitely want to check that, the bumper bar attaches to them at the front like it does on the supra.

Thats all the stuff I can think of, there's bound to be more.

Looks pretty smart when done. Personally I couldn't stand getting rid of my pop ups!

The person who made that one has moved the plastic trim on the front guard up, behind the arch. Doesn't line up with the front.

The correct way to do it is cut and weld the front half of the soarer guard to the rear half of the supra guard.
