Rollaholic,
I'll reply here rather than PM.
Its not particulary hard to make them go ok, but like yems say, a 4age turbo is much easier to get more power, easy to find parts, and is LOTS smaller.
I havent re-invented the wheel in anyway with mine just done alot of small things youd do with any good engine rebuild. Well balanced bottom end, decked a fraction. Head has been skimmed also The back of the valves have been cleaned up fr improved flow. The head is well cleaned up, not really ported or polished. The factory cast headers have been well ported, and the thin internal divides ground back past the thin areas that are susceptable to to cracking, and matched to the t3 pattern.
The choice of 2tgeu head was an easy one. Cheaper. less plugs, less leads, easier source of ignition parts, easier/cheaper intercooler piping, and looks HEAPS better.
Im sure ive done lots of other little bits, but the choice of turbo is pretty important also. oh and a good exhaust goes with out saying.
So in summary, its pretty much not any different to modifing any other engine, and not sure what other specific advise i could offer.
Id love to see what sorta power i could get outta mine with some more boost, but not really keen to do that since its for sale.
Oh and also the most important bit, is a dam good tune, i never really made good power untill I put the Link V5 in it.
Good luck.
Cheers
