Forgot to tighten the rotor arm after replacing a distributor cap. Took for test drive and at 6000 rpm the rotor arm decided to come off. Cap was destroyed and rotor arm broke.

Had to get car towed home but due to front bumper it couldnt be driven onto the truck, so they sent another tow truck but they couldnt access my front or rear tow hooks (again due to body kit).

Managed to tie a rope around the lower control arm so got it home in the end.

alternator belt had been squealing for a few days on and off, thought yeah I'll get around to fixing it, driving home and smell burning rubber then snap, belt snaps off, figure I have enough charge left to drive the 5 minutes home, so start driving get about two minutes down the road and hear CLANG CLANG CLANG, look out my drivers window and see a pulley rolling across the road at great speed, into some bushes, never to be found again!

i keep forgetting to tigheten up wheel nuts after dropping car off jack. been good lately though.

have not done any outstanding efforts my self.... but I have been helping when 2 have happened.

Working on an old carby laser, done an engine swap trying to figure out why it was not running on all 4 and doing nice fireballs out the intake. And my friend leans over to look down the carbie while it was running, Mr no eyebrows later found the firing order is not 1,3,4,2 but (I think) 1,4,2,3.

Also trying to get a mates dx running with a later model efi motor and he poured petrol down the afm, cranked it and it backfired launching the afm over the neighbours house!!

braught a ae82 off a mate in bits, having minimul understanding of all ogf the efi electronics and vacume hoses... oh and a constantly leacking heaid gasket, gave up after the 3rd attempt, oh and my dad tryed to get it started with all the timing up the arse, poring petrol into the thortil body, just to shoot buning fule through the engine bay and onto my girlfrend at the time (lickily it wasint too much lol)

iv lone LOTS of stupid things, like installing a 5speed in the crolla and not filling it with oil.. they actuly last quite a while, never broke altho 3rd made some angry noises..
tyed to tighten the lever arm on the carb for the throtil and snaping the bolt so just held it in place with a bit of wire wraped round the carb :lol:

told myself i could do the engine converstion on the corolla in a cuppla months... (a yeair and a few months later)

many many more things aswell.

oh did heaidgasket and heaid swap on 4k (3k heaid) then wonderd y it wouldint start, 1st, hadn't rest the tappets with original push rods.. second, backfiering and arsing round.. so got make from town (a micanic) to cum have a look for me, he swaped two of the spark plug leads round and she went like a charm!! (the rotor spins the other way duh!) and then had to re do it all again in a proper workshop in town where i did work experiance coz id dun it in a rish in adark shed and left harf the old heaid gasket on!! :oops:

needless to say iv learnt a few things the hard way lol :roll:

So many candidate things.

The one that cost me the most money was selling my AE111 for $1k

Had taken it to insurance approved mechanic/panelbeater combo. The panelbeaters did a fantastic job. Their neighbors the mechanics however... Didn't hook up my breaks when I first got the car back, and after "fixing" that turned out they hadn't put all the bolts into the engine mounts... wtf? (Only found this out after I sold it for such a measly price - cause I couldn't work out what was wrong with it and needed to get rid while unemployed.)

Yeah, and it wasn't me :x

But as far as I could tell, the car was pretty screwed... Oh and the mechanic is that guy next to the railway crossing behind the swimming pool in Upper Hutt.

mendoza's or the one on the other side , right next to the crossing? mendozas have been excellent everytime ive been there , and i've heard the same from many others so i hope its the other outfit you mean :lol:

assembled my motor one night, had a nightmare that i put the headgasket on the wrong way and it blew up, so i stripped it back the next day, and low and behold
4AGTE AE101 COROLLA - 90%

Where the $&#$% is that oil leak coming from /club

looking for enkei RP01 center caps (white)

I knew the old owner (6 or 7 years ago), he was really good. But hit hard times and had to sell up. The new owner is not so good...
