LSD Noises

Postby Adoom » Fri Jan 16, 2009 4:26 pm

I have a TRD 2way LSD in a T-Series diff. I am running Castrol LSX 140. I used to run Redline(I forget the number).
Sometimes when turning in small circles at low speed I get a bang from the rear end. I used to think it was the rodends from the 5Link but now I have changed it to urethane bushes(there is nothing to bang).

Is it just the LSD? Is it normal? Can I stop flinching when it happens?

i get a few shudders and such from the same setup in my car. apparently you can get a slip additive from toyota (and probably elsewhere) that gets rid of it. i believe its caused by the clutch packs being right on the edge of engagement, so they engage, then disengage, and so on. give it a bit more power and it goes away as they lock up properly :D

Nismo GT Pro LSD does it, clonks at low speed tight turnings (u turns etc). It's a sign that you're hardcore.
No "stance", no "hellaflush", none of that bullshit. Nothing but no grip on full boost.

But the majority of the human sheep don't know clunking is hardcore rather than broken.
