Hiya,

Plenty of info on here, here are some links i found using the keywords "bluetop redtop" in the search function.

In no particular order:

Pretty general but you get the idea, if you have any specific technical questions best to ask on here to confirm as there seems to be conflicting information on some technical details. But there are some very knowledgable people on here (i am definitely not one of them)

well theres two types of redtop for a start

blue top is the early one, has smaller crank and TVIS system
only real difference between the bluetop and the early redtop is the crank size.
the later redtop (called smallport) doesnt have the TVIS system, which means smaller inlet ports hence smallport. it also has higher compression.
if you can get one, that would be my choice to fit to a car if you had your heart set on a 16v 4age

yup, bigport redtop is pretty much the same as a bluetop. (both with TVIS)

smallport redtop is very different... and better than the other two.

Ok thanks was just wondering as i have a blue top and red top sitting at home both with tvis, the redtop looks to be in good condition as far as the block goes but is missing a few things like distributer and throttle body, but the blue top i have has everything but the block needs a rebuild. will the parts off the blue top be able to go onto the red top?

yeah if you swap the rods and pistons over at the same time

but if you mean you can put an early redtop in the place of a bluetop then yeah
