turboing on sandard ecu?

Postby 79rolla » Thu Jan 22, 2009 3:00 pm

just folowing up from my other topic, can i run my standard ecu (18rgeu) with boost (about 6psi) and bigger injectors (440cc rb20det) ?

will it need to be tuned? can you tune these ecu's? if so who can do it in the waikato? or will i need an aftermarket one? (i cant relly afford it at the moment)

in case you didn't realize i don't know allot about tuning turbo motors.
cheres for any help

everything on there is about running high boost levils so they need aftermarket ecu's understandably. but is it still necessary for low boost?? when i get more money and if i decide i want more boost ill invest in boost controller and ecu ect.. but its not relly an option atm unless it is truly needed

You cant really change the injector size without changing the ECU.

Unless you can bodge it all with a piggy back, or a different AFM or MAP sensor or something.

But it's not a 'plug em in and go' type deal.

If you can't afford an ECU, then how will you be able to afford to rebuild an engine

Yeah - they're actually smaller than 1G-GTE injectors (which are 320-330cc).

I think RB20's are about 290cc?

if you can't afford to do it properly don't do it at all. it'll be an even more expensive fix when it blows up because of cutting corners.

Don't even bother trying to rewire with 3t ecu, way to much work

Your better off to wait a while long and try and find a cheap older link on trade me, there have been a few on there for around the $600 mark

You are better off to do it once do it right

Neither of those options will work, the map2 ecu won't interface with the older toyota ecus as they are such old technolgy

The second ecu is a link plug in jobby for a honda so it won't work either

http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing ... =193594148 or GD Link http://www.garagedori.com/forum/viewtop ... f=4&t=5625

something like that would be perfect
