Vac Guage Reading

Postby TazzieDevil » Mon Jan 26, 2009 1:40 pm

Hey, So I got a vac gauge for my celica, mainly cause I got a deal on gauges and didn't need anything else.

So its hooked up, points to the middle of Idle when idling "duh", when Im cruising at 100k it points to drive, which is ideal, neil.

However, when I plant boot, it goes off the clock at "poor" if I attempt to accelerate at a smooth pace, it flip flops around poor / fair.

If I lift off the gas, it seems to shoot up and then drop to "decelerating"

Does this seem normal? Im worried that my intake is set up wrong, or i've tapped the wrong air hose!!

yea sound normal.

when you open the throttle right up you get pretty much zero vacuum.

it sounds like a funny way of measuring vacuum though. most gauges have it in Inches of mercury

Sweet as, I'll trim the tube to fit correctly then.

It's got a measurement im sure, but its all "lumped" into areas, de-cel, drive, idle, fair and poor.

think you brought a economy gauge lol.

inches of mercury, never knew that always wondered.

on boost/vac gauges it starts at 30-0-30 and ive wondered if a engine can run under 23/24 vacuum. if know what i mean, ive gotten it down to bout 23 downshifting on hill
